Wednesday 25 April 2012

We attended the Melbourne International Flower & Garden Show that took place Wednesday 28th March - Sunday 1st April 2012. This flower and garden show is still ranked in the top five flower shows in the world.

2012 was the 17th year that this show took place in Melbourne, and it is regarded as the largest and most successful horticultural event in the Southern Hemisphere.   Featuring the best landscape and floral talent that Australia has to offer alongside an extensive array of garden retail products, the Melbourne International Flower & Garden Show is a celebration of Australian lifestyle and our great outdoors.

Staged within the world heritage listed Royal Exhibition Building and surrounding Carlton Gardens, this prestigious Show is well established in the psyche of Australians as a "must see" event. We were not disappointed and we spent one whole day wandering around trying to see everything there was to see.

  17. Wow! What a wonderful collection of photos. My husband has visited your city many times during his navy career and we have talked about his taking me there. I can see that if we ever do make the trip we will need to plan it when this show is going on.

I saw so many interesting things in your shots that I have never seen before. Hard to pick a favorite: the ladies on stilts, the growing statues all those lovely flowers. The winged motor bike reminds me of a scene in a Disney movie but don't recall which one.

Very pleasant and enjoyable time spent on this post.

  18. It had been startling and disappointing to me to find out that story books had been written by people, that books were not natural wonders, coming up of themselves like grass. Yet regardless of where they come from, I cannot remember a time when I was not in love with them -- with the books themselves, cover and binding and the paper they were printed on, with their smell and their weight and with their possession in my arms, captured and carried off to myself. Still illiterate, I was ready for them, committed to all the reading I could give them ... Cheap Flights to Melbourne | Flights to Melbourne | Cheap Air Tickets to Melbourne
