FIRST DAISY

Our weather has been very topsy-turvy these last few weeks, with much variation in temperature and precipitation. Our poor plants are a little confused: On the one hand, roses are blooming late, lingering until Winter's beginning, while lawn daisies have started to appear. Chrysanthemums ,are blooming at the same time as Spring bulbs and while plane trees are shedding yellow leaves, ash trees are blossoming!

ANTARCTIC BLAST

We are in late Autumn, so colder weather and short days are to be expected. This week, we've had an Antarctic blast that caused leaden skies, wet weather and cold temperatures.

HAZY

Thick haze descended on Melbourne today, with a north-easterly wind carrying smoke from the fatal NSW bushfires into our city, a distance of hundreds of kilometres. The temperature soared to a maximum of 45˚C making for apocalyptic scenery and a terrible day to have to be outdoors...

SUMMER STORM

Last Wednesday Melbourne experienced one of its famous weather "changes" where the temperature dropped precipitously and a fine, very hot day ended with a drenching where the skies opened up and it rained cats and dogs... There was quite a bit of flash flooding, some damage to properties and some people stranded by flood waters. It was a good time to be home and watch it all unfolding through a window.
